Mr. Ismail Mohammed Agaka

Mr. Ismail Mohammed Agaka was born on 1st January, 1963. He attended Capital School Kaduna from 1968 — 1974 before proceeding to Barewa College Zaria from 1974 — 1979.

He gained admission into the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1979 graduating with B.Sc (Hons) International Studies in 1983.

He lectured Politics and Economics during his NYSC primary assignment with the Ogun State Polytechnic from July 1983 — June 1984. He began his public service career in March 1986 as a Labour Officer in the Federal Ministry of Employment, Labour and Productivity. As a Labour Officer, he was the Secretary of the Advisory Committee on Industrial Relations as well as the Productivity Committee in Borno State.

He had attended the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Topo, Badagry in 1987. He capped his career in the Federal Ministry of Labour as Special Assistant to the Honourable Minister from January—October 1990.

In November 1990 he joined the then National Provident Fund as State Manager Katsina. He was redeployed as State Manager Niger/FCT between March 1991 and March 1994 when he became the Lagos Island Manager up to June 1995.
He was moved to Headquarters Administration in July 1995 as Manager Industrial Relations and Loans before his elevation as Head, Personnel, Industrial Relations and Loans from January 1996 to August 2002. He acquired Diploma in Social Security Financing from the International Training Centre of the ILO, Turin, Italy in the year 2000.
In September, 2002 he became the Special Assistant to the Managing Director/CE. He held this position up to February 2007 when he was re-designated Head, Special Duties. In June 2012 he became the General Manager Abuja Region. He was redeployed as the General Manager Lagos, from August 2012 to September 2015.

• Member, Governing Council, the Institute of Benefits and

• Head, Secretariat, National Working Committee on Social Security Policy for Nigeria 2008 — 2009
• Member, Industrial Relations Experts Committee, NECA 2005 — 2007
• Served on numerous other Management and Inter-Ministerial Committees
• Attended quite a number of local and international courses, conferences, seminars and symposia.
He has been involved in the following International engagements:
• Elected member of the ISSA Bureau at the 122nd Meeting on 25th May, 2016, Geneva, Switzerland
• Member, Committee on Migrant Workers, ISSA West Africa, 2011
• Member, Committee of Experts, International Social Security Association(ISSA),West Africa, – 2010
• He is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria.
• Fellow, Institute of Credit Administration.
